Honored by Allah: Raising Children with Dignity | Quran Reminder
Allah reminds us in the Qur’an: “And We have certainly honored the children of Adam…” (17:70). This honor is not earned by age, behavior, or achievement—it is given by Allah to every human being, including our children.
In the busyness of daily life, it is easy to focus only on correcting mistakes and managing behavior. But this āyah invites us to pause and reflect: the child before us is already honored by their Creator. They are not a burden to carry, but a trust to nurture with care and respect.
Discipline has its place, but it should never strip a child of their dignity. Gentle words, patient guidance, and respectful correction help build a child’s confidence and strengthen their connection with us.
When children feel honored, they are more open to learning, more secure in their identity, and more responsive to guidance. As parents, our role is not only to teach but to preserve the dignity Allah has already placed within them.
Raising children with dignity is not a soft approach—it is a prophetic one.
